Clarence Seedorf of Botafogo is facing cheap childrens football kits a heavy suspension after being sent off for leaving the lawn improperly during the Carioca Championship last weekend.

The Dutch midfielder was headed toward his team bench in the additions to Botafogo’s 2-1 victory over Madureira on Sunday when the referee stopped him and pointed to the nearest side line to save time.

However, the 36-year-old has picked up two yellow cards for refusing and heading in the opposite direction, for which he has already been charged by Brazil’s sports court.

Prosecutor André Luiz Valentim told local news: “As the report says, Seedorf has shown a lack of respect for the referee, who will be charged under Article 243 for offending the referee’s honor.

“The punishment can be up to six games, plus a $ 50,000 fine.”

Referee Philip Georg Bennet said in his post-match report that Seedorf described his request to leave the field through the front line a joke, and that the player said he would leave “anywhere he wanted.”
